Speaker: Dr. Kieran Murphy
Professor Kieran Murphy MB BAO BCH FRCPC FSIR is a full-time physician and Interventional neuroradiologist at Toronto Western Hospital. Dr Murphy is a pioneering clinician, translational researcher and inventor. He has started six medical device companies, two in France and four in the US. He personally treats over 300 patients a year with malignant and serious spine issues using image guided therapy.
He graduated in 1986 from the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland. He completed his Radiology residency and Neuroradiology fellowship at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, and Interventional Neuroradiology fellowship at University of Geneva.
He has authored 176 peer reviewed publications, delivered hundreds of lectures and published several textbooks. His papers have been cited 6730 times and he has a H Index of 42. ResearchGate, a social network site for global researchers ranks Dr Murphy in less than 2 percent of their 15 million global academic members.
In 2008 he was recruited by University of Toronto, University Health Network as Professor and Vice Chair of Radiology and Deputy Chief of the UHN Dept of Medical Imaging. He was awarded the 2015 Society of Interventional Radiology Innovator of the Year award and was nominated for the 2016 Manning Innovation award.
