Development of immunotherapy and gene therapy for Alzheimer’s disease

Biography: Prof. Martin Ingelsson obtained his MD in 1995 and his PhD in 2001, both at the Karolinska Institute. He completed his medical training at the Karolinska University Hospital and received his medical license in 2001. After a three year post-doc with Brad Hyman at Mass General Hospital he returned to Sweden and Uppsala University/Uppsala University Hospital, where he obtained his board certification in Geriatrics in 2012. In 2014-2015 he completed a one year sabbatical with Xandra Breakefield at Mass General Hospital and in 2020 yet another sabbatical, for six months, with Joel Watts at the University of Toronto. His clinical expertise lies in the area of Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias. His research focuses on the molecular pathogenesis of Alzheimer’s disease and Parkinson’s disease as well as the development of novel therapeutic and diagnostic strategies for these disorders.
